2nd Annual E-Discovery Day Celebrates Key Role in Litigation
On December 1st, legal and IT professionals nationwide participated in “E-Discovery Day 2016,” the second annual celebration of the growing role of eDiscovery in the legal process.
The Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS) delivered a number of informative webinarsthat provided a look back at the evolution of the eDiscovery industry over the past decade, an in-depth look at industry training and educational opportunities today, as well as a look forward to the next decade in the field of data discovery.
“The professionals within the eDiscovery community are characterized by their commitment to education, best practices and continual improvement, and their passion for their field,” said ACEDS Executive Director Mary Mack. “This is evident in all the activities on and around E-Discovery Day. We’re excited and honored to be a part of it.”
The Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) contributed to educational events by sharing insights on eDiscovery trends, best practices and other emerging topics under discussion in the industry right now.
“E-discovery is growing in importance in the legal process,” said George Socha, co-founder of EDRM. “The webinars and other events on E-Discovery Day offer a convenient way for anyone in the legal professions to quickly get up to speed on important topics facing our industry.”
Women in eDiscovery was another organization to join in the celebration, hosting a holiday-themed eventthat also raised funds for charity.
“This has definitely been an exciting year in our industry, with new FRCP eDiscovery rules in effect and important technological innovations that are making powerful software tools more accessible for corporate investigations and litigation of all sizes,” said Steve Ashbacher, vice president of litigation solutions with the LexisNexis software and technology business. “The field of eDiscovery is more relevant and more important to corporations, law firms and government agencies than ever before.”
